New Resource: What Is a Masters in Public Administration?

April 22, 2020

In a time of great challenge and uncertainty, public administration professionals are stepping up to help safely guide our nation through the COVID-19 pandemic. Professionals such as emergency management personnel, non-profit and community managers, and public servants are hard at work developing strategies, programs, and plans of action to keep communities and individuals safe and healthy.

Public administration professionals strive to serve the common good and, especially during this unprecedented pandemic, rely heavily on their training and tools to do so efficiently and equitably.

With this in mind, Sacred Heart University offers a fully-online Master of Public Administration with concentrations in Emergency Management, Non-profit Management, or a self-designed concentration. This hands-on, flexible, and widely-respected program is equipping the next generation of public servants to respond to everyday public administration needs and future crises like our current pandemic.

MPA: A Timely and Relevant Degree

Not only is this advanced degree program timeless, containing relevant coursework and from-the-field examples, it is also highly relevant at this moment in history, as our public administration professionals reevaluate how to handle national crises. Lesley DeNardis, MPA Program Director, had this to say about SHU's online MPA program and the COVID-19 pandemic:

"The current COVID-19 crisis highlights the importance of first responders and other public sector workers who are in the front lines of the pandemic. These are the heroes who are responding valiantly to help their fellow citizens in a time of great need. Our program trains emergency management and non-profit professionals with cutting edge techniques brought to the classroom by those very practitioners who have responded during the crisis."
